Bertram 31

My own boat was an eight foot dinghy with a five hp Sears outboard. It was ugly but fast with that motor. I would launch it through the waves in Carpenteria and head north to the kelp beds off Summerland. I called my boat the Pelican because it was fat and caught fish. More times than not I dumped the boat, fish and gear in the waves while landing. I always wanted a real boat.

So I came up with the ultimate replacement for the dinghy. The 31 foot Bertram Sportfisher is a classic yacht that has a proven design and history. It is used widely as a charter boat all over the world. If I had a boat this is what I’d get. Hell, I even put Sardines in the bait tank. I made this model years ago and it’s still one of my favorites.
